The Belle Valley band program exists to teach students instrumental music skills, while encouraging the personal growth of each student with respect to leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and respect.
Rehearsals, performances, and other activities are the curriculum for achieving the high standards set for the success of the band program. Students are encouraged to contribute to the program according to their own talents and skill levels, and are given opportunities to grow based on their individual potential.
Three ensembles exist to meet the needs of students at every skill level:
Beginning Band is first open to students in 4th grade, but students may join band at any grade thereafter. Students receive one small group lesson per week. Full band rehearsals on Thursdays after school are scheduled for several weeks prior to fall and spring performances.
Intermediate Band is for students who have at least one year of band experience, typically 5th and 6th grade students. Full band rehearsal is every Tuesday morning before school, and the students receive at least one small group lesson each week during the school day as well.
Advanced Band is for students who have two or more years of band experience, students from 6th through 8th grade. Advanced Band meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings before school. Students also receive small group lessons weekly.
