Character Education

Belle Valley South School is dedicated to building students of character. In order to achieve this goal, staff, parents, and students need to develop and implement meaningful learning opportunities for students to grow in their character. The focuses of these opportunities are the nine character traits of: Compassion, Responsibility, Respect/Peace, Honesty, Trustworthiness, Self-Discipline, Integrity, Perseverance, and Citizenship. Additionally, Belle Valley is committed to growing a learning community that develops a sense of belonging for all.

Compassion

One's ability to recognize, perceive, and feel directly the emotion of another; the ability to put oneself into another's shoes

Responsibility

You do what needs to be done.  You are accountable for your actions, and you are reliable and dependable.

Peace/Respect

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Honesty

When people tell the truth, and avoid behaviors such as cheating or stealing

Trustworthiness

Deserving of trust or confidence; dependable; reliable

Self-Discipline

The ability to control your emotions and impulses.

Integrity

You practice moral and ethical principles.  You are honest and demonstrate good character.

Perseverance

Constant pursuit of a goal; determination

Citizenship

Behavior in terms of the duties, obligations, and functions of a citizen
