A Special Note About Extracurriculars

One of the coolest things about the kids in the Belle Valley Band is that they have so many talents and are very motivated to succeed. It is really important that band students have all the opportunities they desire to succeed in other activities, both at Belle Valley and outside of school.
Some Belle Valley activities meet in the mornings and conflict with band. Sponsors and coaches are always willing to share band time.
The general rule is that Intermediate Band members must attend Tuesday morning band practice, but will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings for other activities.
Advanced Band members are responsible for 2 rehearsals per week. Student Council members would go to band on Monday and Friday, leaving Wednesdays open to attend meetings. Sports team participants may choose to go to band on Monday and Wednesday, and attend sports practice on the other three days.
There are exceptions made when one group requires additional practice time, such as in the week approaching the Scholar Bowl Tournament or the rehearsals prior to Band Contest. Students should help their sponsors and coaches become aware of conflicts.
Students may need to make their own schedule on a individual basis. For example, a student who wished to be in band rehearsal more made arrangements to only attend Student Council meetings every other week. Her decision did not affect the band students who wished to attend all meetings on Wednesday mornings, but gave her the rehearsal time she personally wanted.
